This study looks at the production, potential export developments, and business opportunities of five countries located in the Danube basin. In our opinion, it is a crucial region for players currently active in deficit G&O markets who aspire to improve G&O sourcing. We see a number of business opportunities and investments required to fulfil the potential of the Danube region.
Companies pursuing these opportunities must take a careful approach, as there are several challenges: geopolitical developments in the region, the impact of climate change on local production, country stability, and developing EU regulation.
