Global beef quarterly Q1 2025: South America’s growing presence in global beef markets
After peaking in late 2024, global beef production is expected to contract in 2025. Tariffs may bring disruptions to global markets.

Beef production in the four largest South American beef-producing countries is expected to decline in 2025. But with global markets stronger, export volumes are expected to remain steady while domestic consumers bear this supply contraction. This continues the trend from recent years where domestic consumption has contracted, allowing for an increase in export volumes. But beef remains an important part of the South American diet. 2025 will be an interesting test for South American consumers and how much competition they will provide against growing export demand.
