Reduce food loss & waste

Approximately one-third of all food produced globally is lost or wasted. Rabobank supports customers to reduce their food loss and waste to avoid unnecessary production and climate impact, targeting on a 50% reduction by 2030.

The cost of food waste on our planet

Producing food that is never eaten by people requires an agricultural area almost the size of the United States. This has a negative impact on the economy, is a threat to food security, and limits the availability of resources like water and land. Reducing food loss and waste by just 25% would therefore lead to significant benefits.

Reward reduction targets

One of the ways we support our customers in this transition is by providing capital to clients that have specific food loss & waste reduction targets.
