Energy Transition Networks and Partnerships

Our global Networks (i.e. alliances, partnerships, coalitions) are essential for us to play a role in the energy transition by connecting Rabobank to the global agenda and actors, to enable and foster the bank’s strategy & interventions.

Our 3 key pillars

Through these networks, Rabobank delivers on 3 key pillars:

Energy Networks

Rabobank is actively participating in several networks. Below are highlighted two of our partners:

1. Energy Transition Commission (ETC)

About ETC

The ETC is an internationally respected analytical and advocacy body working to advance the global energy transition in line with the temperature goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. It is a voluntary membership organisation of senior leaders drawn from industry, academia, finance and civil society. Rabobank joined the ETC in May 2023.

This network:

Informs the decisions of public and private decision makers. Supports the leaders at the forefront of climate action. Speeds up the deployment of low and zero-carbon solutions. Provides datapoints and tools on the energy transition. Convenes action-oriented, high-level discussions. Nurtures collaborations between leaders from a range of sectors.

Rabobank’s contribution

Managing Board Member Kirsten Konst serves as a Commissioner in the ETC, and participates in periodic meetings to oversee its program of work. Various members of staff specialized in energy and transition regularly participate in workshops, offering their knowledge and views to support the development of the ETC’s analytical reports.

2. World Energy Council (WEC)

About WEC

The WEC is the oldest independent and impartial energy community, connecting leaders, industries, governments and innovators across the world. With a presence in nearly 100 countries, our national Member Committees, partners, programs and Future Energy Leaders are driving impact and meeting whole energy system challenges. Rabobank is a member of the Dutch chapter of the WEC.

This network:

Contributes the insights needed by energy leaders to make effective strategic, policy and business decisions about the energy transition. Provides trusted data, useful tools and impartiality. Supports and promotes energy leaders of the future - a global impact community of exceptional young professionals who:
Share a commitment to address the urgent need to humanize energy. Seek innovative energy and climate solutions. Engage in national, regional, and global discussion.

Rabobank’s contribution

In the WEC Rabobank gives a perspective from the financial sector. Senior staff members represent the bank in the Dutch chapter of the WEC. In order to accelerate scaling and innovation in the ET, much of the projects and developments need finance and this demand is growing.
